5 Current Babyfaces In WWE

1 years ago By Sports Desk

The WWE universe has long been accustomed to the dynamics of heels and babyfaces. But in recent times, there’s been a subtle shift in characterization. Today, the line between heels and babyfaces has been blurred, and characters often oscillate between the two roles. While there’s no dearth of heels, identifying a genuine babyface can sometimes be challenging. Yet, even in this era of gray characterizations, a few WWE Superstars still embody the traditional ethos of a babyface. Here’s a comprehensive look at the top five babyfaces who have managed to win over the WWE Universe:

Starting off the list is Cody Rhodes. Since his much-anticipated return to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Rhodes has been nothing short of a phenomenon. The overwhelming reception he received on his comeback was a testament to the place he holds in fans’ hearts. Throughout his recent tenure, Rhodes has locked horns with some of the biggest names in the company, particularly those holding World Championship titles. His ability to consistently deliver exhilarating matches and defy the odds has cemented his position as the premier babyface of the company. Given his trajectory, it won’t be surprising to see him wear the World Champion’s crown soon and serve as the emblematic face of the company.

Following closely on Rhodes’ heels is Sami Zayn. For the longest time, Zayn’s potential felt underutilized. His career seemed to be meandering without any clear direction until his alliance, and subsequent betrayal, of the Bloodline. This singular act transformed Zayn’s trajectory in WWE, catapulting him to the forefront as a leading babyface. Everywhere he performs now, the arenas reverberate with cheers for Zayn, making it clear that the WWE Universe has taken him to their heart.

Meanwhile, the evolution of Seth Rollins has been nothing short of captivating. Having embraced a heel persona for years, Rollins was known for his ruthless in-ring antics, including the shocking moment when he (in storyline) took out Rey Mysterio’s eye. Yet, the tide began to shift when the World Heavyweight Championship was reintroduced. Despite his past, fans began rallying behind Rollins, and he swiftly became a favorite to win the title. This marked a pivotal transition in his career, and today, after squaring off against top opponents like the enigmatic Judgement Day, Rollins has solidified his position as one of the top babyfaces in WWE.

As we venture into the women’s division, Becky Lynch stands out as a beacon of resilience and determination. After taking a break due to her maternity leave, she returned with an edgier heel persona. However, a series of events, including her prolonged feud with Damage CTRL and a partnership with WWE Hall of Famer Lita, brought out her babyface side. Today, she is celebrated not only as one of the most skilled women wrestlers of all time but also as a babyface icon in the division.

Last, but certainly not least, is Matt Riddle. Since making his mark on the main roster in 2020, Riddle has consistently been a favorite amongst fans. His alliance with Randy Orton only augmented his babyface credentials. Known for his affable demeanor, coupled with commendable mic skills and an impressive in-ring prowess, Riddle has routinely faced and overcome heel opponents. He has managed to forge a genuine bond with the WWE Universe, ensuring his position as a top babyface for years to come.

In an era where character dynamics are ever-evolving, these five Superstars stand out, reminding fans of the timeless appeal of babyfaces in professional wrestling.
