MMA journalist Ariel Helwani lauds Terence Crawford’s wrestling skills in Twitter post

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Terence Crawford is undoubtedly one of the greatest boxers of the modern era of the sport. While he’s mainly known for his boxing skills, the undisputed welterweight champion also has some impressive wrestling skills.

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani recently shared a video of the 35-year-old showing off his grappling prowess in a light sparring session with a fan. Despite his opponent doing his best, Terence Crawford displayed his impressive mastery of the collar tie and two-on-one techniques.

Unsurprisingly, Helwani was highly impressed with Crawford’s wrestling skills despite dedicating his life to the sweet science. The veteran journalist shared the video on Twitter and claimed ‘Bud’ could be the only boxer to succeed in MMA. Shouting out Crawford’s wrestling skills, he wrote:

“Bud’might be the one male boxer who could actually be successful in MMA (if he wanted to be). Look at those wrestling skills!”

Interestingly, Terence Crawford comes from a family of wrestlers. His grandfather, father, and uncles were well-known wrestlers in their day, and the genes seem to have been passed down through the generations. While Crawford steered away from the wrestling mats to pursue a boxing career, his children are now learning to wrestle.

Terence Crawford dares Gervonta Davis to test himself against him at 147 pounds

It seems Terence Crawford could stay at 147 pounds if he gets the Gervonta Davis fight.

‘Bud’ is coming off a historic win over Errol Spence Jr. on July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While fans had long been calling for this matchup to happen, it wasn’t as even-handed as they thought it would be. Crawford dominated Spence in the title unification bout and after three knockdowns, secured a TKO win in round nine.

Following that incredible performance, fans have been wondering who Terence Crawford will face next. Over the past few weeks, he has been linked to several high-profile pugilists, including WBA lightweight king Gervonta Davis. ‘Tank’ last beat Ryan Garcia earlier this year and has been itching for an opponent ever since.

With a welterweight move on the cards for Davis, many have speculated if a Gervonta Davis vs. Terence Crawford matchup could be next. While ‘Bud’ initially planned to move up after beating Spence Jr., he recently claimed he’s willing to wait for Davis at 147 pounds.

In an interview with Sway’s Universe, Crawford stated:

“Yeah [that’s a possible fight] if he wants to dare to be great. If he wants to be like all the other fighters moving up two weight classes, daring to be great. Tell him to come up then, he said I have a glass chin. So tell him to come and touch me… At 147, I’d make 147 for him.”
