Mike Rotunda delivers update on his son, WWE star Bray Wyatt’s return

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Former WWE Universal Champion Bray Wyatt last appeared on WWE programming prior to WrestleMania 39.

His sudden absence from television raised questions, but now, in the latest edition of the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter,” his father Mike Rotunda, known by his WWE character IRS, has shared insights about his son’s potential return.

Rotunda recently spoke to Sportskeeda at a fan convention and expressed hope for Bray Wyatt’s imminent return to WWE. He acknowledged that there are numerous speculative reports on the internet, some of which he wouldn’t readily believe, but he does anticipate Wyatt’s return to WWE in the near future.

Mike Rotunda delivers update on Bray Wyatt’s WWE return

Addressing Wyatt’s absence, it was reported that he has been dealing with a medical issue that prompted his hiatus. According to Fightful Select, Wyatt has been making progress towards being medically cleared, despite having faced a “career and life-threatening” health challenge. WWE has taken precautions to ensure his long-term well-being remains stable. Sources suggest that creative ideas have already been discussed for his comeback, and there’s a possibility he might return as early as September:

“You read a lot of stuff on the internet, which I wouldn’t believe a lot of it or, in my case, any of it. So, Bray Wyatt, I’m sure will return to WWE hopefully shortly and we’ll go from there.” [0:50 – 1:03]

Bray Wyatt had previously returned to WWE in October 2022 after being released by the company the prior year. Upon his return, he became part of a storyline involving Uncle Howdy, who also vanished from WWE programming around the same time Wyatt was taken off TV. Wyatt’s most recent televised match occurred at the Royal Rumble premium live event in January, where he emerged victorious against LA Knight in a Pitch Black match.

Rotunda also delviered an update on the health of his brother-in-law, Barry Windham. Windham  has wrestled for both WCW and WWE during the 1980s and 1990s. He experienced a heart attack in December 2022. Rotunda shared positive news regarding the legendary wrestler’s health:

“Barry’s doing good, actually just did a signing recently, so he’s back up and running and actually doing well.” [0:34 – 0:43]

As the anticipation for Bray Wyatt’s WWE return continues, his father’s hopeful remarks offer a glimpse of optimism for fans eager to see “The Fiend” once again.
