All Previous Editions of WWE Crown Jewel and Their Results

1 years ago By Sports Desk

The WWE Crown Jewel is a pivotal event in the professional wrestling calendar, hosted annually by WWE in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority. This remarkable 10-year alliance has brought forth unforgettable moments since its inception in 2018, though the event took a hiatus in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Crown Jewel is renowned for its grandeur and the presence of WWE’s biggest stars, making it one of the must-see pay-per-view events of the year.

Casting our minds back to 2018, the inaugural Crown Jewel event captured the world’s attention, especially with the highly anticipated tag team main event. This showdown featured D-Generation X, consisting of Shawn Michaels and Triple H, going toe-to-toe with the formidable Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker. In a battle for the ages, DX emerged victorious in what was billed as the final match of both Michaels and Undertaker’s illustrious careers.

The first Crown Jewel also saw Brock Lesnar triumph over AJ Styles in a compelling face-off, while Seth Rollins secured victory against Roman Reigns. Braun Strowman, the powerhouse, overcame the challenge posed by Tyson Fury, a crossover moment blending the worlds of wrestling and boxing. Furthermore, the event witnessed Alexa Bliss and Mickie James defeating Sasha Banks and Bayley to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, marking a significant moment in the women’s division.

In 2019, WWE Crown Jewel returned with a bang, headlined by a Falls Count Anywhere match between Seth Rollins and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, battling it out for the WWE Universal Championship. In a highly anticipated match, Wyatt emerged victorious, capturing the title.

The event also showcased Brock Lesnar defeating Cain Velasquez in a match that had the audience on the edge of their seats. Team Hogan, comprising Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Ali, Ricochet, and Rusev, won over Team Flair, consisting of Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Drew McIntyre, in a classic team vs. team battle. The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods) retained the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The O.C. (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows), and Lacey Evans captured the WWE Women’s Raw Championship from Natalya, adding to the night’s list of memorable moments.

Fast forward to 2021, Crown Jewel made a triumphant return, headlined by a monumental clash between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. In a highly-anticipated match, Reigns unified the Universal Championship with the WWE Championship, becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and solidifying his place at the top of the wrestling world.

The event also featured Big E successfully defending the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre, and Becky Lynch retaining the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship in a bout against Bianca Belair. Fans were treated to a brutal encounter between Seth Rollins and Edge, and Goldberg made his presence felt with a victory over Bobby Lashley, adding to the spectacle of the night.

In 2022, WWE Crown Jewel once again lived up to its reputation as a marquee event, with Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul in the main event. Reigns secured victory in what was Paul’s third professional wrestling match, showcasing his dominance in the squared circle.

Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley locked horns in a colossal encounter, with Lesnar coming out on top. Bianca Belair retained the WWE Raw Women’s Championship in a Last Woman Standing match against Bayley, proving her resilience and determination. The women’s tag team division saw a title change as Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky) defeated Alexa Bliss and Asuka to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, and The Usos defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against The Brawling Brutes, rounding off an action-packed night.

Despite the grand spectacle that WWE Crown Jewel provides, it is not without its controversies, primarily stemming from Saudi Arabia’s human rights record. Nonetheless, the event continues to be a significant draw for WWE fans worldwide, producing unforgettable moments and showcasing the athleticism and storytelling that WWE is renowned for. Each edition of Crown Jewel has left an indelible mark on the history of professional wrestling, creating legacies and moments that will be talked about for years to come.
