Cody Rhodes Breaks Silence on His WWE Return

In a surprising revelation, former AEW superstar Cody Rhodes has finally disclosed what he told his early mentor Randy Orton prior to his triumphant return to the WWE at WrestleMania 38. After a nearly three-year hiatus from the world-renowned wrestling promotion, Rhodes made a spectacular comeback, beating Seth Rollins on three separate occasions.

Pre-Match Jitters and Expectations

Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Rhodes shared his apprehensions before stepping back into the WWE ring, expecting a less-than-warm welcome from the audience. Despite having built an impressive career and a loyal fanbase at AEW, the former Intercontinental Champion was wary of the reception he would receive from WWE’s notoriously vocal fans.

“I told Randy [Orton] before I went out in Dallas [WrestleMania 38] that I thought they were gonna boo. I did. I thought they were gonna boo. Seth had carried the whole story to mania and I was the other guy and they didn’t. I just told your partner this, but they got it,” said Rhodes.

The Unexpected Blessing of His WWE Return

Rhodes, often known as ‘The American Nightmare’, further elaborated on his WWE comeback, stating that the fan reception was more welcoming than he anticipated, and his return proved more fruitful than he could have imagined.

“I didn’t have to say belt. I didn’t have to do this thing, which I, of course, loved doing, but I didn’t have to do it. They got it. They realized, ‘Oh, that’s what he came back for.’ And in the process of coming back for that, I’ve received so much more than I could have ever, ever asked for. So that’s been a blessing,” added Rhodes.

Rhodes’ return to WWE had been the subject of speculation for months, with fans and industry insiders alike wondering if he would ever make his way back to the company where he started his career. His successful return, marked by a string of victories over Seth Rollins, signaled his strong return to form and a reaffirmation of his place in the WWE pantheon.

What’s Next for Cody Rhodes?

The wrestling community eagerly awaits what comes next for Rhodes in his renewed tenure with WWE. Known for his incredible in-ring agility and charismatic personality, Rhodes’ continued presence in WWE is bound to stir up excitement and generate riveting storylines in the coming months.

His recent revelation about his conversation with Orton, a third-generation WWE superstar and longtime friend, provides fans with a unique insight into the behind-the-scenes camaraderie and mentorship between wrestlers, adding another layer of depth to the fascinating world of professional wrestling.

With his return to WWE and his recent victories, Cody Rhodes once again proves why he is regarded as one of the most versatile and dynamic performers in the world of professional wrestling.
