Deontay Wilder Shares Shocking Prediction For Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo Fight

9 months ago By Sports Desk

Deontay Wilder knows who he’s backing for the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo bout this weekend.

Wilder, former WBC Heavyweight Champion, recently predicted the outcome of the upcoming super-middleweight title clash between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Jermell Charlo, the current super-welterweight king.

Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed status at Super Middleweight against Charlo on September 30th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Opinions are divided on whether Charlo can take on the naturally bigger Mexican fighter, as he moves up two weight classes to fight him. The main event, titled “Undisputed vs. Undisputed,” will feature a 12-round fight between the two.

In a recent interview with KO Artist Sports, Wilder explained how Charlo’s drive for greatness could prove to be pivotal. He claimed that while he had confidence in both boxers, Charlo stood out. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ pointed out that both had different techniques and powers. However, he’s predicting a blockbuster contest.

He plainly stated that he’s leaning towards the undisputed welterweight champion to win. Wilder explained that since many have been wanting a shot at Canelo, it’s time to make it count. The former WBC champion stated that he sees Charlo grinding out a win. If Charlo ends up winning the bout, he becomes a two-division champion. Needless to say, that would be a defining moment in his career.

Canelo Alvarez has been itching to prove he’s still the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world. While his last three outings haven’t been up to the mark, he is keen to prove his haters wrong.

In May of last year, the Mexican boxing superstar suffered his first defeat in almost nine years at the hands of Dmitry Bivol in the light-heavyweight division. Following that, Canelo Alvarez won two consecutive points victories against Gennady Golovkin and John Ryder at 168, which were underwhelming and left many fans disappointed as they were expecting the fights to end via stoppage. Canelo Alvarez has a record of 59-2-2 with 39 KO’s in 63 fights.

Charlo, the undisputed super-welterweight champion, enters the ring after a career-best win against Brian Castano. However, jumping two weight divisions remains a mammoth task. Jermell Charlo has a record of 35-1-1 with 19 KO’s in 37 fights. Only time will tell if the 33-year-old is capable of proving his prowess at a higher weight class.

Erickson Lubin will fight the undefeated Jesus Ramos in a junior middleweight contest in the co-main event. Elsewhere on the card, the undefeated Elijah Garcia will face Armando Resendiz in a middleweight bout. The fight between Garcia and Resendiz will be the only 10-round bout on the undercard.

Interestingly there will be another title fight on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena. Former welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas will face Mario Barrios for the interim WBC world welterweight title. This will be Ugas’ first fight since last year. Meanwhile, Barrios defeated Jovanie Santiago earlier this year and will look to build on the same strong form.

One of the preliminary fights to watch is the light heavyweight bout between Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Isaac Rodrigues. Meanwhile, Terrell Gausha goes head-to-head against  KeAndrae Leatherwood in a middleweight bout. Another exciting bout that will be featured on Saturday is Frank Sanchez against Scott Alexander in a heavyweight out. Alexander is on a two-fight losing slide and will be looking to bounce back from it.

The highly anticipated fight is set to stream on pay-per-view in the US and UK. Showtime PPV will feature the full card for boxing fans. Showtime Pay-Per-View offers the opportunity for fans to enjoy the fight from the comfort of their own homes. The cost of accessing the Pay-Per-View event is $84.99, allowing global fans to witness the thrilling bout.

As the boxing match approaches, excitement is building up among boxing enthusiasts across the globe. The fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jermell Charlo is set to be an unforgettable night of boxing, showcasing the exceptional skills, determination, and heart of these two fighters.
