Ronda Rousey Seems To Have Confirmed Her Retirement Through Instagram Post

10 months ago By Jhon Woug

Ronda Rousey, the renowned former UFC champion turned WWE superstar, has long been a subject of speculation in the world of professional wrestling. With a storied career that saw her transition from mixed martial arts to the scripted world of WWE, fans have been curious about the future of the “Baddest Woman on the Planet.”

Rousey’s WWE journey began in January 2018, and she made quite the impact. During her first year at the Stamford-based company, she held the RAW Women’s Title. However, her hiatus from WWE following her loss at WrestleMania 35 left fans wondering about her long-term commitment to the world of professional wrestling.

After nearly three years away from the squared circle, Rousey made a triumphant return in 2022 when she won the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Over the following year and a half, the 36-year-old athlete added two SmackDown Women’s Title reigns and a Women’s Tag Team Championship to her already impressive resume.

However, the speculation about Rousey’s future in WWE gained momentum after her loss at SummerSlam in an MMA Rules match against her former tag team partner, Shayna Baszler. Following the defeat, Rousey raised eyebrows when she stated, “Now I have no reason to stay.” This statement fueled rumours of her potential retirement.

Adding to the intrigue, Rousey took to Instagram to post a cryptic message that left many fans and wrestling insiders speculating about her future. The post included photos of her spending time with her family and her friend Marina Shafir. Accompanying the images was a quote from Bernie Lumen, which read: “Sorry, I couldn’t hear you through my retirement.”

This Instagram post seemed to suggest that Rousey might be hinting at her retirement from professional wrestling. It triggered a flurry of discussions and debates among fans and wrestling experts. Was this a subtle farewell message from Ronda Rousey?

While some fans thoroughly enjoyed Ronda Rousey’s presence in WWE, her run in the company was not without its critics. Wrestling Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff shared his perspective on her time in WWE on his 83 Weeks podcast. Bischoff expressed his hope that Rousey had left wrestling for good. He revealed that he never felt she truly wanted to be a part of WWE, despite her undeniable talent and credentials.

Bischoff stated, “It’s been ‘ehh’ ever since she got there, in my opinion. A lot of build-up, a lot of hype—I mean, she’s obviously got a big personality, is very, very credentialed, and has done a lot of great things—but I’ve never felt like Ronda really wanted to be there. I felt like it was a great opportunity for Ronda, and I think Ronda wanted that opportunity. But, to me, from day one, I never felt like she wanted to be there. I hope she’s done.”

The doubt surrounding Ronda Rousey’s WWE future deepened when Michael Cole, during a WWE RAW episode, referred to Shayna Baszler as the woman who sent Ronda Rousey packing from WWE. This apparent confirmation of Rousey’s retirement from professional wrestling left many fans with mixed feelings.

Rousey’s WWE journey was marked by numerous accomplishments. She became WWE’s eighth Triple Crown Champion, headlining WrestleMania 35 alongside Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Additionally, she won the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match, showcasing her exceptional skills and charisma.

Despite her apparent retirement from in-ring competition, Ronda Rousey’s influence on WWE is undeniable. The impact she made during her tenure, including her historic achievements, will not be forgotten by fans and wrestling enthusiasts.

The emotional weight of Rousey’s Instagram post, where she mentioned that Shayna Baszler was the reason she got into the wrestling business, provides an intriguing twist to her story. It leaves fans wondering if this might be a temporary departure or if she could potentially return to WWE in a non-wrestling role.

Her journey from the octagon to the squared circle was a remarkable one, and her presence in WWE brought mainstream attention to the world of professional wrestling. Rousey’s charisma and athleticism undoubtedly left a lasting mark, making her a prominent figure in the WWE landscape.

Eric Bischoff’s candid assessment of Ronda Rousey’s WWE run highlighted the divide in opinions. While her star power was undeniable, the uncertainty surrounding her commitment to the business was a source of concern for some.

Ronda Rousey’s Instagram post serves as a cryptic and potentially final chapter in her WWE career. It raises questions about what her future holds and whether she might return to WWE in a different capacity, such as a commentator or ambassador for the company.

While her departure from WWE’s active competition is still a topic of speculation, one thing is certain: her legacy in the world of professional wrestling is firmly established, and her influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
