Drew Mcintyre breaks silence on WWE absence, hopes fans “miss him”

2 years ago By Sports Desk

Drew McIntyre’s recent absence from WWE TV raised questions about his future with the company.

Following his return to WWE and a high-stakes rivalry with Gunther, McIntyre clarified his recent hiatus in an interview with Armon Sadler for “Stay Busy.” During this conversation, McIntyre shared insights into his absence and his outlook on his wrestling career moving forward.

Drew McIntyre hopes fans have missed him during absence

Drew McIntyre’s hiatus commenced after his triple-threat loss at WWE WrestleMania 39. During this time, he acknowledged feeling “stir-crazy” when not actively involved in wrestling. However, he emphasized the importance of stepping outside the wrestling bubble to gain perspective and address personal projects and commitments. McIntyre’s pause from the rigorous wrestling schedule allowed him to be with family, work on various projects, and decompress mentally.

McIntyre acknowledged the rumors that circulated during his absence, confirming some to be true without specifying details:

“As a side effect, it kinda led to, hopefully, the fans missing McIntyre, and the stories coming out, the response everyone had to the stories coming out, it was a good feeling, reminded me of the kind of connection I’d built with a lot of the fans out there who were standing up for me, wondering what was going on with my future, and that was cool to see.”

This transparency with fans reflects his genuine approach. He expressed a “re-found appreciation” for his wrestling career after the time off. This sentiment indicates a renewed enthusiasm for stepping back into the squared circle and engaging with fans.

When questioned about the possibility of adopting a limited wrestling schedule, similar to Roman Reigns, McIntyre remained open to the idea but emphasized that such a decision would be based on physical necessity. He maintained his commitment to seizing opportunities and making the most of his current momentum. McIntyre shared how the fans’ reactions to his hiatus and eventual return reinforced the connection he had built with them.

Drew McIntyre’s return was met with overwhelming support from fans, which reignited his excitement for his wrestling journey. The stories that surfaced during his absence and the fans’ responses showcased the depth of his connection with the WWE Universe. He highlighted the anticipation surrounding his Intercontinental title match and expressed eagerness for the diverse challenges that lie ahead.
