HBO Max Service May Lead To The Inclusion Of AEW

2 years ago By Sports Desk

HBO Max, the streaming platform owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, will launch a new premium sports section on October 5, coinciding with the MLB playoffs that will begin two days later. This new service within the platform will allow its subscribers to watch matches live.

The new service will be called Bleacher Report Sports Add-On (or B/R Sports), taking the name from WBD’s digital sports news, opinions and highlights brand. Interested subscribers will have to pay a fee of $10 per month (in addition to the Max subscription), although it will be available for free during a promotional period that will last until the end of February, covering the MLB playoffs and much of the NBA and NHL seasons.

This news could mean the arrival of All Elite Wrestling to the platform, which would allow it to continue expanding its product. Tony Khan himself recently stated his desire for HBO Max to be able to house the company’s entire video library. It should be remembered that AEW All Access has been available on the platform for a few months.

Currently, the company’s weekly shows can be seen through the TNT and TBS channels, both owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, while the PPVs can be followed through Bleacher Report and Fite TV internationally. With this new announcement, the possibility opens that the company’s pay-per-view events can be viewed through B/R Sports. At the moment, neither WBD nor AEW have commented on the matter, so it will be necessary to see if the former’s commitment to sports content can benefit Tony Khan’s company.
