UFC 293: Alexander Volkanovski Predicts Israel Adesanya Could Break Sean Strickland’s Arm During Fight

2 years ago By Sports Desk

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski believes Israel Adesanya could snap Sean Strickland’s arm in their title fight at UFC 293. ‘The Great’ recently discussed the upcoming middleweight championship bout and weighed in on the results.

Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland will go head-to-head for the 185-pound strap at UFC 293 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on September 10. This bout will mark ‘Tarzan’s first championship fight and the Nigerian-born Kiwi’s sixth career title defense.

Adesanya is considered to be among the UFC’s best strikers, in addition to being a world-renowned kickboxer. Given his resume as a middleweight contender in the promotion, many believe Strickland has his work cut out for him. With the betting odds heavily favoring the reigning champion, ‘Tarzan’ faces an uphill battle at UFC 293.

Sean Strickland hinted at attempting to outwrestle Israel Adesanya during the fight. However, he has also admitted that he could succumb to the moment. Given his volume-heavy fighting style, it’s quite likely that Strickland would be tempted to pressure Adesanya with relentless boxing combos.

In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Alexander Volkanovski broke down Sean Strickland’s weaknesses and speculated the same. The featherweight king claimed that he saw the No.5-ranked middleweight contender getting into a dangerous striking scrap against Israel Adesanya and getting his hand broken in the process. He said:

“I’ve been picturing in my head a broken arm… Just while he’s trying to block, while he thinks it’s going low, and brings his hand up last minute and just snaps it.”

As mentioned, Israel Adesanya is among the most dangerous strikers the UFC has ever seen. He’s functionally cleared the 185-pound division and is looking to add Sean Strickland to his resume. Only time will tell if the UFC middleweight king comes out on top once again.
